Understanding the past is crucial for shaping the future, particularly in rapidly evolving fields like Computer Graphics. The techniques we rely on today are the result of decades of research, experimentation, and refinement.
As Artificial Intelligence transforms the way we generate images and simulate reality, a solid grasp of the field’s foundations becomes even more valuable. Traditional methods not only explain how current tools function but also provide the insight needed to apply new technologies with clarity and intention.
Today, computer graphics are used in many areas beyond entertainment, including medicine, science, architecture, and education. The goal of this project is to reflect on the history of CG, to show how these technological developments continue to shape the tools and ideas we use today. For theses reasons, this website seeks to reflect on how far we have come and how past innovations continue to inspire new ideas and applications.
We would like to extend a special thanks to our mentor Luiz Velho. Your clear teaching and commitment to the subject made it possible to understand not just how CG works, but why its history matters. And thank you for following the history of computer graphics.
